Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp matcha powder

  • 1/2 tsp chai spices (a blend of cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper)

  • 1 cup milk or plant-based alternative (almond, oat, or coconut milk works well)

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1-2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice (optional)

  • A pinch of vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Matcha: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with water using a bamboo whisk or a regular whisk until smooth and lump-free.

  2. Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat. Stir in the chai spices and simmer gently for a minute to infuse the flavors.

  3. Combine: Pour the spiced milk through a fine sieve (if needed, to remove larger spice particles) into your prepared matcha mixture.

  4. Sweeten: Add your preferred sweetener and a touch of vanilla extract for additional depth of flavor. Stir well.

  5. Serve: Pour the Matcha Chai into your favorite mug. For extra flair, froth some milk and top the drink with foam and a sprinkle of cinnamon or matcha powder.
